JOHANNESBURG (AP) - Caster Semenya will compete in the 800 and 1,500 meters at this month's African championships as the red-hot favorite for Olympic gold in the two-lap race fine tunes her preparations for the Rio de Janeiro Games.



Semenya, the 2009 world champion in the 800, has shown her best form in years to power to three straight wins at Diamond League meets over two laps.
That form has coincided with the IAAF being forced to temporarily drop rules that regulate testosterone levels in female athletes. Semenya was the subject of a gender test scandal when she won the 2009 world title as a relatively unknown 18-year-old.
